When I put my toddler to bed at night, I usually spend 5-10 minutes in prayer while he settles in for sleep before I leave his room. In my prayers tonight, I was reflecting on how Mary was asked to perform one of the greatest tasks known to man -- to be the Mother of God. Yet, when she was asked, she did not hesitate. There was no lack of confidence on her part. She had complete trust in God and knew that He would provide what she needed to perform the work He had called her to do.

I firmly believe that we have each been given gifts and talents from God.  I also believe that we find ourselves not using those gifts in our day-to-day work as often as we could.  When I think back over my career, there have been times when I accepted the doldrums of my safe but boring work.  There have also been times when I accepted the false need for material goods that my job provided but I thought I could not get elsewhere.

As I think about my confidence level currently and how I am using the gifts God has given, I recognize that He has called me to expand my role in coaching, to increase my reach in sharing this gift.  When I think about it through that lens, how can I not trust that He will provide what is needed for this work?

As you reflect on your own confidence level think about how you are using the gifts you have been given for your work.  What causes you to hesitate in saying yes to your gifts?
