One of my personal goals for 2017 is to read the Bible. I am using a guided plan that outlines which chapters from the Old Testament, Psalms, and New Testament to read each day in order to accomplish this goal. Ideally, I would be on target for the reading that needs to be done each day. In reality though, I'm still trying to figure out how to put this into my daily routine. Needless to say I have a few days’ worth of reading to catch up on.

I am currently in the book of Exodus with the story of Moses's call from God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. It's been while since I've read this story, and it really caught my attention how many excuses Moses presented for why he should say no to God's call. Yet, each time Moses said “no, I am incapable”, God provided a clear answer as to why that no should really be a yes.

I could not help but think about the number of times over the last 3 years where I have made excuses and said no to opening this coaching business. Some of my no’s were: I have a full-time job, I am raising kids, I'm not sure that's really what I am intended to do do, and the list goes on.  Then, just as with Moses, I started with one small yes. Since that first yes, my confidence in following this unexpected journey has increased, and I am grateful that I am using the gifts that God has given me to help others.

Think about your own career life over the past year.  What have you noticed that you are saying no to?  Reflect on why you have been saying no.  If you were to say yes instead, despite of the many barriers that seem to be in your way right now, how would yes create more opportunity for you to use your gifts and talents?
